Smith Oaks Rookery
Smith Oaks Rookery is a bird sanctuary on the Gulf Coast south of Winnie, Texas maintained by the Houston Audubon Society.
The Rookery is made up of two small islands in a man-made pond and is probably the greatest concentration of “larger” birds I have ever seen (or heard). It was quite impressive, especially the spoonbills, who showed off their pink feathers.
